I'm happy to live on rice and beans 😁. However, in my decade plus of being vegetarian I have not managed to convince any of my peers to switch to a plant based diet. The most positive feedback I've gotten from meat eaters is when they tried faux meats, " not bad, ... Just like beef..."

It's likely a mix and match approach is needed. At a policy level though we need to stop subsidizing an unsustainable food system that is damaging the environment. If people want to eat meat then that's ultimately their choice but they should pay the true cost

Beyond meat are plant based. Pea protein mostly. I haven't eaten meat in over a decade but it tastes pretty much as I would expect ground beef to taste. I think it's a good alternative for those who want that taste.

This. Plant based alternatives like beyond meat cost 2 to 3 times their beef equivalents. The EU is heavily subsidizing beef production.

Good point. Also, when you say 'legacy' of one off housing it's more than a legacy it seems to be if anything expanding in my part of the country (Galway) and there seems to be little political appetite to reverse this trend unfortunately

What's the reason for the delay? My understanding was the changes were to be made this summer
