No time to be here. My only thought rn is that I wish a Chinese spox had stood up and said, Yes, we are a nation of "peasants," and that is our strength. And it is your weakness that you have forgotten you are the same.

Little-bird tracks, maybe sparrow?, outside my door this morning, note the wing-print. And crow tracks. I miss feeding & watering them. My kid's having minor health stuff, our health ins is being evil about a med for me, quoting $4000, then, after days of fighting, $30, w/ fine print read to me

Note that allegedly only clubs that were under the heading of "diversity " or similar word were cut, e.g., the Polish club wasn't cut not b/c it's white but b/c it wasn't labeled under DEI phrasing. Idk the veracity. Result is still horrific.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

It was Christmas Eve in Manhattan, and I was in a nice hotel room with someone wrong, and on the bedside alarm clock radio was Amy Goodman reporting live on the hostile takeover of Pacifica radio. I didn't know who she was, but her calm voice describing the lock-out, later described as

Re: cancelation of Black History Month. It's one thing to understand the warnings intellectually, or even feel the fear. But the abolishing of a celebration so universally, often perfunctorily observed, hits different. Pride is on the block. Women. SpEd. Is the ADA next? Degenerate Art?

Friends, what if we pray for the birds? Light candles for them, put their images on our altars, speak well-wishes to them as they fly past us. Hundreds of millions of them have died of avian influenza and I haven't read one news story that even acknowledges their loss.
