I've read it right after The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion and then picked it repeatedly to look things up. Apart from Narn i Hîn Hurín I love the tale of Aldarion and Erendis very much.

I liked the take on Héra, struggling with the challenges of power and choosing the life of a shieldmaiden (somehow like Haleth I guess) in the end. All in all they haven't done badly though not overwhelmingly brilliant.

I think he was taking chances in both cases. It was an identity theft when took the sigil from Diarmid and since Diarmid knew that Sauron wasn‘t from the Southlands he had to die. Before he pulled Galadriel on board of the raft he looked at her and was gauging her. The seaworm didn‘t attack her …
