Yes! That is exactly what I started doing. I was being stubborn at first though lol. I ended up really liking it.

I agree! I've written many poems over the years and a small amount t of short stories. I'm going to focus on doing more of those for now. I'm also working on improving my spelling and grammar, so it'll be a while before I can think about a novel, lol.
