A strong contender for my favorite spell so I think it has to be counted as my favorite counterspell. I include it in most red decks I make in commander and am pretty rarely let down by it considering its color specific.

I was out of magic during that time but it is definitely one of my favorites as an eternal magic player looking back. It’s always wild to me it was apparently unsuccessful since it had amazing art, introduced planeswalkers, commands and changeling. Also the first printings of thoughtseize and ponder

It feels like the main criticism is less of an argument against hybrid mana and more a lack of faith in wotc. Which is fair but I also don’t really find relevant to hybrid mana since if they’re gonna screw the game up for money I don’t think the existing hybrid mana rule is going to stop them.

I love the idea they would go through such a radical redesign but still keep deckmaster on the back.

Play area and player token aren’t defined in the rules and replacement effects have no way of replacing physical actions so last line has no effect. You would make a doubling season token but it wouldn’t be on the battlefield to see you make the other tokens.

I think it would be.
101.1. Whenever a card’s text directly contradicts these rules, the card takes precedence. The card overrides only the rule that applies to that specific situation. The only exception is that a player can concede the game at any time

I was looking through scryfall for land sacrifice ideas and came across this. Not really what I was looking for but a wild magic card I’d never seen before and would love to see in action in a commander game (If all the players are down with land destruction shenanigans)
