BMW’s 2025 iX gets a welcome refresh, refining rather than reinventing. The updated headlights and illuminated grille bring a bit more cohesion to the front, while the redesigned rear apron and diffuser add balance to the back. https://buff.ly/4hDlyxL

Its standout feature? A sliding rear luggage cover that seamlessly transforms the vehicle from a sleek GT car to a versatile open-bed load carrier.

The Italdesign Quintessenza Concept channels the spirit of the Seventies with a modern twist. Designed to celebrate the opening of Italdesign’s new Stateside studio near Detroit, this long, wedge-shaped EV reimagines the classic American pickup.

Inspired by Group B rally cars, the R3 reflects Rivian’s stretch into smaller, urban-friendly vehicles for a global market. Hammoud emphasizes creating passionate designs that evoke emotion:

"If you’re trying to make something that everyone loves, all you’ll make is something nobody hates."

The standout feature of the new BMW iDrive is the Panoramic Vision display—a full-width reflective band across the windshield. It offers customizable info pods and enhanced visibility. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a63352395/bmw-panoramic-vision-idrive-infotainment-system/

Also on the chopping block: Gesture Controls. While fun in theory, they never gained traction with users.
January 7, 2025 at 10:39 PM
BMW cites data showing drivers increasingly prefer touchscreens, making the iDrive knob obsolete. By eliminating it, BMW can streamline its infotainment systems for a singular interface—goodbye to designing for both touch and physical controls.

After 24 years, BMW is retiring its iconic iDrive knob, a staple since 2001’s E65 7 Series. The shift comes with the rollout of the new Panoramic iDrive system, focused on touch and voice controls. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a63353043/bmw-kills-the-idrive-knob/

Jaguar doesn’t need to reinvent itself—they need to refine and amplify what made them special in the first place. The GT should feel like the natural evolution of their greatest hits.

What do you think? Can Jaguar pull this off?
November 21, 2024 at 4:27 PM
The teaser is an abstraction, but Jaguar needs more than abstract concepts to compete at this level. Their GT should be a statement piece that says: “We’re back. And we belong in the rarefied air of luxury.”

The Lincoln MK9 concept suggests McGovern can balance modernity and a nod to the past.

What I’d love to see on December 2nd:

A proper four-door grand tourer with a sleek, forward-thinking design.
Performance that makes it competitive with Tesla’s Plaid and Mercedes EQS AMG.
A cabin that’s modern but has tradition. No gimmicks—just thoughtful details that scream quality.

Now, onto the logo; the 1982 rebrand is the first of the modern iterations, moving the Leaper to the logo. That leaping jaguar became synonymous with elegance—Jaguar’s answer to Bentley’s Flying B or Rolls-Royce’s Spirit of Ecstasy. They should lean into that history.
November 21, 2024 at 4:27 PM
Now, they’re leaning on Gerry McGovern, who has a strong track record of understanding luxury (see the evolution of Range Rover).

Here’s what they need to nail:

1️⃣ Long-range electric performance
2️⃣ Absolute comfort + leading-edge tech
3️⃣ Design that modernizes their storied history

November 21, 2024 at 4:27 PM
The I-Pace was an early standout in electric vehicles, and they could’ve built on that momentum. It was a huge missed opportunity that they didn’t lean harder into the Waymo partnership—autonomous Jaguar EVs with a luxury focus.

Why not integrate the sensor package? Where's the luxury backseat?
November 21, 2024 at 4:27 PM
True luxury is about quality, performance, customization, and an effortless blend of driving and being driven. Jaguar has always excelled in two areas: enviable sports cars and limousine-like cruisers. Cars with a sense of occasion.
November 21, 2024 at 4:27 PM
Jaguar’s brand redesign and teaser for its all-electric four-door GT are making waves, but it’s worth unpacking what they’re aiming for and where they might be missing the mark.

They want to go upmarket. Think Bentley, Maybach, and Rolls-Royce territory.

Underneath, the HF-11 is future-proof. Its swappable sub-frame allows for different drivetrains, gas or electric—offering the visceral charm of internal combustion today with an easy path to electrification tomorrow.
November 20, 2024 at 10:39 PM
The HF-11 is a study in duality. Its styling merges iconic influences: Porsche’s timeless 911 front-end design with the sleek aggression of the Jaguar F-Type rear. A modern throwback that mixes familiar with unique proportions.
