This exchange pretty well encapsulates RFK Jr’s belief system. A simple idea (however ridiculous and misinformed) of how the human body works enchants him, so he clings to it, but he never digs deeper because deep down he knows the truth will undermine his overly simplistic model of understanding.

Students in my Bioinspiration class are designing 3D printed and laser-cut samaras (“helicopter” seeds) modeled after maple seeds, and testing which membrane shapes keep the seeds airborne the longest.

RIP to the incomparable Jane Goodall, who embodied the best of humanity.

Her rich legacy included becoming friends with Gary Larson after he drew this cartoon. (She was delighted by it, even though many at the time thought it was terribly offensive to her.)
