That had been my strategy too! Turns out there are some helpful rules (or maybe strong suggestions) that I think help save time otherwise spent bumbling around and helps improve a piece.

Chapter 2 is all about Anti-Aliasing and after reading that, it really made shading click more for me.

That is a great first artwork! I’m learning pixel art too and I just read Pixel Logic by Michael Azzi and I highly recommend you check it out!

It gave me a ton of tips that I would never have thought of just by referencing others art.
