I'm a retro game geek who loves Japanese video games especially. MSX computers and game preservation are my passions.

I also livestream frequently at:

BONUS: Here's the mobile phone versions of Doki Doki Penguin Land, or the ones that I could find screenshots of. There's also the BREW version from 2003, at least.

I've played Doki Doki Penguin Land (SG-1000/MSX/Arcade) many, many times in my lifetime and I've never had this happen before. Does anyone know what the trigger is to have the mole appear from the window like that? I'm having troubles trying to recreate this.

A drawing I did back in 2014 when trying to do a deathless playthrough of VVVVVV and failing constantly at The Gravitron minigame part.

I also colorized this image from the same Ys III ending back in 2005:

Here's one of the ending images from the MSX2 version of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, which I colorized back in 2006 (the original image was sepia toned).

Found these old forum banners I made for Ancient Land of Ys message board back in 2006 and 2011, teaching people the correct way to spell Ys. They're still useful today as there's bunch of people still misspelling it. 😅

There's some interesting looking stat bars in Milano's Odd Job Collection. 😅

Here's the final screenshot I took from Ys Online: The Call of Solum, when the last remaining Taiwanese server was shutdown. I miss you, game.

Heh, I wonder what games these title screens from Family Games II (CD-i, 1995) are referencing. 😄

Interesting language selection screen from the Captain Alphabet mini-game from Family Games I (CD-i, 1994):

I enjoyed The Girl from Gunma Kai on Steam so much that I had to get a physical copy of the game. I don't mind that if it's an older version of the game. A physical copy is a physical copy. (:

Lushiris, the Goddess of Light from "Der Langrisser" (Super Famicom, 1995). This game is a remake of Langrisser 2. Thanks to Zenkerdus for letting me know about this orb girl.

I love the Eggerland/Adventure of Lolo series. ♥️ If only HAL Laboratory would release a new entry in the series. Even an Eggerland/Lolo collection would be great.

This game is a greatly expanded version of "Lolo no Daibouken", released one year earlier. Not only does it have 94 more puzzles, but it also has extra cutscenes and Super Game Boy support.

Here's one from the front cover of Zenkai Denshoku (X68000, 1991). Sadly, no orb holding animes in the game itself. Thanks to @tangopunk.com for letting me know about this example!

This game was released in the West as 'Adventures of Lolo 3'. It has the same intro, map layout, boss fights, and ending as the Japanese release, but the puzzles themselves are different.

This game got released in Japan as 'Adventures of Lolo'. They share the same intro and ending, but the puzzles themselves are different.

Just some screenshots of Lololo and Lalala from the 2001-2003 anime series, Hoshi no Kirby/Kirby: Right Bact at Ya!.

For those who doesn't know, Lolo and Lala from the Eggerland/Adventures of Lolo series and Lololo and Lalala from the Kirby series are technically different characters. Go figure.
December 3, 2025 at 4:33 PM
Heheh, yeah. After the first two games for the MSX, both Lolo and Lala have tails now.
