I think many folks are chasing the „effortless“ bit of analog gear in the digital domain that is rather difficult to achieve if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Digital limiting is different from analog domain limiting. I’ve seen folks running analog limiting/compression first, then digitally recording the signal and adding the final loudness bits digitally.

Using hardware compressor gear makes the entire process much more immersive than dialing knobs with a mouse. In any case, the sound is snappy and cohesive and has a „done and polished“ nuance.
