Ha ha! Good point, but he was more near the back half of his career with the Leafs. I'll now change my perspective to 'Leafs have had very few of these types of players' :)

Oh man - I loved Kulemin!! Was one of our favs in that Leafs era. :)
But don't think he ever had the upside Knies does. There's risk in any deal but I think this is a good bet. I'd be more surprised if it doesn't work out for the team than if it did.

I don't recall the Leafs ever having this type of player? Power forward, 6'3", 230 lbs, can skate, has hands, hits, kills penalties and seems to really love being here. Plus he's only 22 yrs old.
Him and the JT contract are big wins for the team.

JT has been one of their best UFA signings, ever! But I do like the idea of them playing a little hardball and trying to get players on more team friendly deals. JT and Knies are going to be the initial tests on if it works form them.

A couple of things I hope to hear.
Your grade for the Shanahan era.
The team they lose to in the first/second round almost always then made it to the Cup finals, and the series against the Leafs was arguably their toughest.
Does that piss you off even more or lessen the hurt?

I think if FLA wins in 4 or 5, it will piss me off even more. Leafs showed they could play with them. Were a Reilly own goal in OT from being up 3-0. Turned it around and dominated the second half of the first period in G7. Then missed on 3 breakaways and inexplicably stopped playing.

Really good vibes of him coming back based on the presser today! Very encouraging.
Can understand why they gave the C to AM though. New GM, new coach and the guy had just scored 69 goals and was a Selke finalist.

If they have Pelley, they may not need a GM and President plus Pelley? Shanahan's role may just go away and maybe Tre gets a bump in his title?

Trying not to be a homer but when you go back to even the Clarke McArthur suspension, plus multiple Kadri ones, Spezza, Rielly and then how AM hearing was announced before the game ended (don't recall that happening to anyone else?), it sure does look like different rules for Leafs

That seems like a great deal for Carolina, no? You'd think Freddie could have received a much bigger contract after July 1st. What would the Oilers have offered?

My optimism is around how much the stars have to align for you to make it to the finals. Florida has done it twice in a row and are likely due to cool off. Leafs on the other hand have had their share of tough breaks. I'm counting on a hot Stolarz and some good fortune to get them through

I thought for sure Robertson was coming in for Paccioretty tonight. He's looked slow and last game couldn't even land a decent hit. He did have some success with Willy and JT earlier so 🤞 they find it again. But it's game 6, you'd like to have something better than 🤞

Their longevity is impressive. Same 4 guys for over 45 yrs and then opened and sold out the Sphere in Vegas for 40 shows in about their 44th yr.
