Tonight a resident posted a picture of racist and Islamaphobic language written on Johnson street that called for @omarfatehmn.com to be deported and wished death upon the Somali community. @doronclark.bsky.social and I showed up right away to get this racist garbage off of our streets

Pretty good? It has an odd bottleneck by the door where the bar line and people get in kinda mixes, but sound seemed good, it's a big enough space, bathrooms were easy to get to, no bad sightlines.

People are reposting that people read less because they work more than they used to and I don't think that statement holds up to very basic scrutiny of any of the relevant facts of how long people work and how they spend their time.

I think some really misinformed ideas about political economy exist on the left that extrapolate off of their personal experience of aging. We have a field called sociology that could actually answer a lot of these questions, but its not as satisfying as going off vibes and takes.

Broader Economic Impact: Many existing trade and macroeconomic models fail to capture the full harm caused by tariffs. Larger tariffs reduce the openness of the economy, including international capital flows. This is especially costly under the nation’s current baseline debt path, which is increasing faster than GDP, that is generally excluded from trade models or treated as neutral (Ricardian). U.S. households would need to purchase more bonds, requiring bond prices to fall (yields increase), domestic capital investment prices to fall (the marginal product of capital increases), or both. Even conservatively assuming only domestic capital investment prices fall, the reduction in economic activity is more than twice as large as a tax increase on capital returns that raises the same amount of revenue.
