I have long held a theory, living in an area known as The Dukeries, that the royal family drew the short straw many centuries ago and agreed to take all the flak and create a distraction so the Dukes could steal all the land and then sell or rent it back to everyone else.

I listened to the entire audiobook of You Took the Last Bus Home on a drive to Cambridge today. By pure fluke I got stuck in some slow moving traffic during 4’ 37”. Otherwise I wouldn’t have heard it. Your timing was impeccable, poetry in motion. Albeit slow motion.

In the interest of balance I once drove into the car park of a Sainsbury’s Local in a Ford Focus to become the fifth one there. No other cars were present.

Equally intriguing is LJ Hale and his pursuit of parts for his 1982 Allegro. I wonder if he is still driving it in West Bridgford, I will keep my eyes peeled next time I am there. That clue would lead me to guess 1992?

It would have been circa 1979 when my brother bought one of these from Woolworths. At the time he had a moped on which we collected the TV. It was my job to ride pillion with it clamped between us on the four mile journey.

This reminds me of the woman who intended voting Tory as she had heard the Labour Party were going to remove (the need for) food banks. And all those Tory MPs that celebrated their local food bank like it was an achievement rather than a failure on their part.
