When individuals survive fatal health conditions, narrowly escape life-threatening accidents, or emerge with minimal harm from violent incidents, it can be offensive to claim that “God spared them for a reason.” This perspective risks reducing human existence to a cruel and arbitrary divine game.

Where I live, conversations about tomorrow’s events have been muted since last November 6. Even in Church, where focus was on honoring the legacy of MLK, not a word was said about or prayer offered for tomorrow’s events. Collectively, we are experiencing DTPTSD.
