It's important to remember the overall incompetence of the 76ers organization over the last, well 40 years for sure, but especially in the Harris era. Each GM since the premature removal of Sam Hinkie has shown a level of misplaced arrogance that is stunning when summed up as a whole.

I’m sure its prorated. I don’t think you are allowed to go from 9m to 3m on a two year contract.

Long time IT Manager/Systems Admin here. Dave's advice is spot on. Just don't do it. Nothing important ever comes from the internet (Social Media, E-Mail, DM, Reddit). If in doubt, call them!

That all makes this draft so important for the offense. I see a lot of mocks giving them EDGE or CB but if I were them I would go OL, OL, TE, TE, WR, WR in whatever order (except OL #1) is essential even if it requires trading up or down. I think they will be heavy offense for a few years now.
February 6, 2026 at 4:27 PM
I think they might have taken the draft defense/pay offense thing just a little too far. The defense has definitely benefitted but the offense felt stale, for a lot of reasons obviously, but I think also the lack of young talent.

It felt like they drafted as if they had no needs and could make some luxury picks. Don't think that's ever the case in the NFL. I think Campbell and Mukuba will be good players but not sure it was what they needed.

Sean - Thanks for being one of the few that are willing to call it what it is and not “give them the benefit of the doubt” or parrot “flexibility”. Let’s be honest, they want the appearance of contending without the cost.

You are a nicer person than me. They have now ducked the tax four straight years. Pretty sure I know what they were really doing.

Plenty of ways to make space under the apron without trading McCain, but we all know that isn't what they were worried about. There is way too much evidence at this point that its a cash grab, pure and simple.
February 5, 2026 at 8:43 PM
For me, I don't care if they are under the tax. They don't have to be. They could have done everything that you are suggesting AND kept McCain. This is what I see as unacceptable. Every year their only move at the deadline is to get under the tax, not improve the team.
February 5, 2026 at 8:36 PM
I wonder if Morey will be really pressed on this issue or if he will be allowed to squirm out of it with words like "optionality" and "flexibility"?

Below the tax?!?! When is the parade?

Some coaches, in all sports, are bad or not comfortable or incapable of integrating young players successfully into their system. What is Tocchet's history on young players?

Jared McCain, Johni Broome and 2nd round picks. Isn't that better than what Chicago got from Minnesota?

The team is supposed to be trying to win and to maximize its assets. If this is too expensive for the owner...He should get out! This is years and years of this. When you look for a culprit in the mismanagement of Joel Embiid's championship window, look directly at the owner.
February 4, 2026 at 11:55 PM
3/x We are fans. We are not supposed to be understanding of the team dumping assets for pennies on the dollar so that the owner can continue to live in the (questionable) means he has become accustomed to and fund a rival NFL franchise.
February 4, 2026 at 11:55 PM
2/x Instead we are hearing about what is clearly the interest of one man (Josh Harris) and the pocket change for him that the move generates (though I suppose you could add that Daryl Morey gets to keep his job by facilitating this).
February 4, 2026 at 11:55 PM
I don’t understand why I am supposed to care about the 76ers not being taxed? How does that make for smart roster management? They are worse off without McCain, full stop. Josh Harris having more money in his pocket is not what I root for.
February 4, 2026 at 11:34 PM
I'd say they sold very low on McCain. With a decent finish he would have much more value than a very late first.
February 4, 2026 at 8:41 PM
How does it improve their future optionality? We have to learn to stop talking in their terms. What do we care if they pay the tax this year or every year. Think they are losing money? Just put a winner on the floor and stop whining about the tax!
