Every company is becoming like this. It reduces the number of complaints they get! Can’t complain if no one is there to actually listen to the complaint.

Got the in line installed now and much better. Got no idea why they didn’t have that installed in the first place. Why would anyone have a CT clamp installed which gives them dodgy readings? Solar panel companies ripping people off so it’s cheaper for them to install it rather than an in-line?

Do you have a ct clamp magnet or an in line on your solar system? I’ve been told after many months the ct clamp is not sending accurate magnetic readings to my inverter so the inverter is drawing from the grid to compensate. They’re going to install an “in line” a ct clamp connected by a circuit

Wow you have to pay them to export? You’re the one doing them the favour though by giving them electric?
March 3, 2025 at 5:03 PM
You’d be paying 18 euros per month for it 216 euros per year!

The solar app doesn’t report it though.

If you don’t have an Octopus home mini with smart meter showing you the live readings then it might happen to you as well without you knowing?

Just saw this article about it on the Tesla Powerwalls they do it too! www.reddit.com/r/Powerwall/...

Is your inverter hybrid?
February 28, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Probably because no one looks into it this deep like I have 😂 it’s the live readings of the smart meter which enlightened me.
February 27, 2025 at 10:29 PM
Yeah but it’s still probably charging the 1p somewhere in there. Like if I exported 27p it would only give me 26p 😂 the times it doesn’t export it always charges the 1p from grid.
February 27, 2025 at 10:27 PM
It makes no sense as got plenty of energy from solar and batteries to run the inverter so I’m literally being scammed by electric company 😂
February 27, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Yeah if I export to grid that’s different you don’t see the 1p then as it will minus it off, if you get what I mean.
February 27, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Yeah it charges the battery with the extra solar, still drawing the 1p from grid though.
February 27, 2025 at 10:15 PM
See those images I posted above. The energy provider and smart meter is saying I am still drawing from grid even when the battery is full and the panels are producing energy it’s doing it.
February 27, 2025 at 10:08 PM
Yeah I’ve spoken to them the growatt tech guy who says it does draw from the grid around 40W per hour. He told me there’s no real settings to turn this off. It needs to be connected all the time to grid in order to export too. Maybe you have different type of inverter? There’s off grid ones too?
February 27, 2025 at 9:59 PM
I wish that was the case for me: at 10:30am plenty of sun this morning not exporting and there’s still 1p per 30mins
February 27, 2025 at 9:56 PM
Yeah they don’t care they took my money broke my roof too (had to have my whole roof replaced) and they just say it might be inverter but the solar will benefit me in the end! 😂 solar system cost 7k new roof 7.5k and now £180 per year for running inverter, doubt I’ll ever get my money back 😂
February 27, 2025 at 9:51 PM
The only thing I’ve set up is to buy electric at cheap night time rate to store in battery and then sell it for a peak time rate
February 27, 2025 at 9:47 PM
My battery can be full and the sun really good giving 4kW and it’s still drawing Watts from grid 1p every 30 minutes.
February 27, 2025 at 9:42 PM
I didn’t choose to set it up like that. I’ve been trying to get it fixed but don’t know how to? And sorry deleted my post and reposted it as I shared personal info by accident!
February 27, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Notice the solar app doesn’t say I’m drawing from the grid but the Octopus energy provider’s live readings in their app says I am and therefore I’m being charged. 1p every 30 minutes is £15 per month and about £180 per year so it all adds up.
February 27, 2025 at 9:39 PM
Mine’s a hybrid inverter and needs to be on in the evening and night to convert the battery dc to ac to power the house. And then I set it to pull from the grid at cheap times during the night. These Watts of power are enough to be 1p every 30 minutes and the only thing it can be is the inverter.
February 27, 2025 at 9:38 PM
I’m using battery and it’s still drawing from grid according to Octopus home mini. Just had my smart meter changed too in case that was the problem! It’s the inverter using these Watts.
February 27, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Inverters pull a small amount of power from the grid at all times to check that the grid is still connected and "active". This is because they are required to shut down in the event of a power cut, to avoid making the cables "live" and endangering anyone working on them.
