Saw #BraveNewWorld yesterday, my fifth movie of the year, and would give it a 7.5 of out 10. Anthony Mackie continues to be a solid Captain America and the story was far tighter and more focused than some recent entries.

In the news this morning:
•The DOJ was told to drop its corruption investigation into NYC Mayor Eric Adams.
•POTUS pardons former Illinois Gov Rob Blagojevich who was sentenced on corruption charges.

Been working preaching on the commitments we make our Affirmation of Baptism. This week’s focus is: To Strive for Justice and Peace in All the Earth.

If we take this commitment seriously what does/should that look for the church & Christians today?

I’m sure there’s opportunity for reform, as there is across the board but eliminating USAID is like cutting off our nose to spite our face.

The less soft power we use the more we’ll have to rely on hard power. The costs of projecting hard power are far greater and far deadlier than soft power.

Confession of sin is at the heart of Christian faith. We believe “if we say we have no sin then the truth is not in us”. POTUS is pushing “patriot education” that whitewashes/ignores/denies the sins of this nation.

MAGA cosplaying as Christians routinely reject the core teachings of Jesus.

Throughout my seminary education and my time in pastoral ministry I’ve participated in a number of DEI trainings as part of my continuing education. Those trainings have not only enabled me to become a better pastor but they’ve also helped me to become a better Christian and a better human being.

There’s way too many Americans cosplaying as Christians and making a mockery of Jesus’ teaching.

There's this great story in the Gospel of Luke where Jesus preaches the good news and the folks there end up trying to throw him off a cliff because they didn't like what he had to say.
