Born and raised SoCal librarian, cyclist-ish, scifi and film fanatic, smartass, got a bowling ball named Balrog. Average Wizard stats. http://vote.gov
I'm in. We get healthcare and pastries, and they get amazing beaches and the best Disneyland. Win-Win for everyone

From the renown leftists over at...what is this? Forbes?

My hometown river is the Santa Ana River, a real river in Southern California. Not necessarily the best looking river but it rivers pretty well.

Do the Bluesky people know you're here?

That's a very Gen X thing to say

Wonder if anyone we know wrote that page?

Great breakdown of the album! One probably stupid question: what kind of gas would the car be adapted for if patrol was unavailable?
Being American, we messed up what we and you call gas.

Maybe if you stopped pissing off your captain by going rogue.

This was extremely funny so I tried showing it to my wife....
Then it just got extremely awkward...

Whatever the cost it will be demonstrably less than what is being paid now. And Everyone is insured automatically.
How can we justify someone not getting care or going bankrupt from care they need?
We should be looking at It backward from universal care as the starting point.

Weird how they sort of all forgot the COVID loans they didn't pay back.
December 25, 2025 at 3:30 AM
Pretty straightforward. Put everyone on the fed health insurance. It pays for itself bc it all goes straight to the hospital or caregiver. That power makes it much easier to negotiate much lower costs.
If people want more care they can pay for private.
This is not new or groundbreaking.

Yeah I agree with you. It does some interesting things that properly used are extremely helpful. But it's only a tool.
The rollout has been irresponsible. My laptop does not need AI and neither does this phone.

Jerry just shows up.

Oh. No. I didn't want to think about that and now...ugh...

Librarian here. People already have access to just about every library in the world since around 1992. AI does a few things well, but research is not one of them. I use a bunch of AI tools and they all make basic mistakes and hallucinate. AI does do some things well, but not research.

Have to bet on the right things. Sony pretty much gave away Kpop Demon Hunter bc they didn't trust it to make money. Someone did at some point but somewhere that fell apart

Beautiful choice. Butler really captured something in that book.

I'm guessing there are calls that he doesn't want on official record or anyone else knowing about.

The whole sale was stupid. There's not much reason for it in the first place. Netflix was the best of 3 bad choices, and all of them would have some serious implications for the industry. There's no win here.

Must be some brutal avoiding eye contact at meetings. Or are they just staring at you straight in the eyes.
December 7, 2025 at 2:09 AM
Thanks. I do watch those but I was thinking more in terms of studio consolidation. This isn't great but better than Paramount
December 5, 2025 at 4:50 PM
Netflix is the best option of a bunch of bad options. Ideally it shouldn't be sold but Zaslov is going to do his thing and doesn't really care.
December 5, 2025 at 3:32 PM
One thing I learned in Hyderabad is do not make eye contact. Which is kind of hard coming from Los Angeles.

What's the solution then? How would students learn to use it responsibly and effectively? Where will they fit in and be competitive to the workplace w/o knowing how to use it?
AI Rollout has been irresponsible on the part of industry but how else to address it? It's not going away.
