But the point I was making is that being 46xx and yet male is also possible as is being 46xy and female. There are also 13 known female 47xxy. What I dislike about the article is that most people just assume they are in the most common groups without testing.

So, do you vote for the parties that you know don’t support your people or do you vote for the ones that can’t win? Or do you sit on your hands & blame everyone else? Or do you go for the least worst option? We’re agreed on the life-saving care so how do you think you can get Government to listen?

I’m not doing either of those things. But any Government will lose political capital if it randomly changes course. The only way to influence is to present new compelling medical and academic evidence. Lived experience is not always recognised as valid by politicians unfortunately.

It will matter but remember the last Government paid Cass to do that review and that’s the latest evidence however flawed. Someone needs to respond to that. They won’t look at studies from other countries.

I agree we can do it and that we should do it but as someone who had a career in change management I caution that it needs to be carefully managed to be successful.

We are not unaffected. But the way forward is to present evidence and influence policy. Political parties don’t change course on a whim; they can be moved by academic and medical evidence. Unfortunately the other side knows this too and seems better organised.

The issue is with the current system. If I were to vote Green (they get a low vote) or Liberal (not seen one here for years) in this constituency and lots of people also did so the conservatives would win. It would be voting intention polls that would influence most.

I understand the hurt. I’m not puzzled at all but the original point was that a party can only pursue its policies if it can get into power and that is just fact.

I wasn’t lecturing trans people at all thanks. I simply made the point that unless a party can get into government it has no chance of its policy becoming law. That’s a fact. Overall I think we’re on the same side.

They have 4 more years so we must all keep on with trying to influence them. Remember we are talking about a single issue here; in other respects (green energy) they’re doing quite well.

I’m not a member of any political party. I’m very aware of both the people you mention. But we should all try to influence the current government from our various perspectives (and there is some overlap of trans and intersex interests) and keep trying.
