DO I myself start using the word repeatedly? should I refuse steadfastly to use it even if the conversation provides the opportunity to do so?

Should I myself introduce a word I think might be new to them to assert the intellectual high ground, and if so what should that word be?

And that’s the story. I have been thinking about it for weeks now and the more time goes on the more I think the answer is ‘A’ and in turn I find myself wondering what my approach should be the next time we happen to be in the sauna at the same time…

A. Thought I was an idiot to whom this phrase was novel, and they wanted to educate me, or perhaps just impress me.

This would also incentivise landlords to maximise individual property values in their portfolio and move them away from smaller properties which are in desperately short supply and appeal to first time buyers and typical home owners.

Stamp duty rates should not be binary for 1st/2nd property purchases and should instead increase with each additional purchase whereby your 8th property carries a 35% stamp duty. This would raise significant additional tax revenue and disincentive the building of large landlord portfolios.

Also striking in that clip is the idea that fascism and democracy aren’t entirely compatible ideas and that if enough people vote for something that makes it automatically non-fascist. God help us.

Keir Starmer raising the notion of “Britishness” as a proxy for decency to try and put people off protesting a genocide his government continues to supply weapons for is … insane.

If that’s what Britishness is, then yes, protesting against it is manifestly un-British, but then so is decency.
