War, basically? If the US annexed Alberta following a referendum loss, I'd imagine that would kick off the next civil war in the US, with Canada entering on the side of the Union.
But I do tend to think that the Alberta as Donbas scenario only happens with a fully entrenched regime in the US.

What about the workers and their families who are at risk of job loss or eviction due to being in hiding from federal kidnappers and death squads?
Will there be some supports for them? Preferably paid out of a hefty lawsuit against ICE/DHS/CPB terrorists?
