#EduSky #iteachsocialstudies podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t... Powerful discussion here. Compromise is a necessary part of democracy and we’ve probably lost the value of it. But what about when we compromise our values themselves? Tough conversation.

www.economist.com/finance-and-... #EduSky #EconTeachers #iteachsocialstudies Interesting read here. In what way is it helpful to think of human attention economically? Does relative scarcity apply? Should we consider it a factor of production? Can our attention be stolen?
Can you make it to the end of this column?

Would make for an interesting discussion for #APpsych. Personality… but also a critical discussion of data, correlation, causation, psychometric assessment, etc: www.ft.com/content/5cd7... #EduSky #iteachsocialstudies

A simple (simplistic?) rehashing of what we know and hopefully do, but for some possibly important eye-openers. Don't only read the post but also the science behind it! #EduSky

I’ve tight AP Psych for past four years. Love it. So many aspects of psychology that are intrinsically interesting to adolescent students.

#EduSky #iteachsocialstudies AP exam score release day. How’s everyone feeling? Any thoughts on exams 2025?
mrnfhaines.bsky.social
True… I get your point that the research results seems somewhat common sensical. But what about the students who didn’t get it and the brain data showed them unaligned? What’s that about? Neurodiversity? Not mentally engaged? Lacked background knowledge?

#EruditePedagogy Have not looked at the original research; curious about the thoughts of others. Seems to reinforce importance of responsive teaching / formative assessment... alignment of cognitive processes aided by teacher eliciting information about how the students are conceptualizing topic.

Researchers found that patterns in the brains of students and teachers looked remarkably similar while learning. 🧠 What does that mean for the classroom?

In today’s context it is bit of a challenge writing a post about the authoritative bias of maps. After all, how can maps be both accurate and tendentious. Kuby, Harner, and Gober’s book Human Geograph...

I’ve been a remote student at UVa for the past several years. My impression is that this is a great loss to UVa. Sorry to see President Ryan forces out.

Guess my only thought would be that if it’s formal research for distribution / publication and requires human subject ethics approval etc, the site of the research must be willing and that sometimes requires some negotiation.
