I genuinely don't think they're that competent. I think this is another sign they have no control over their own people, a fact we've seen time and again.

They saw that something was very wrong with the world and instead of trying to find the answer they latched onto the first person that made everyone extremely angry, thinking that meant they were gonna change things for the better. They never considered things could be worse.

I was big into the skeptic thing a decade ago. Secularism was kind of my only real political position at one time. It made zero sense to me that so many jumped in bed with the anti-intellectual religious right.
But like you said, it's all counter-culture contrarion shit.

To summarise: join the Greens. A democratic, ambitious party that is set to claim the mantle that Labour has failed to use.

This is a worldwide phenomenon. Centrists create a duopoly, tell us they're the only practical option, and then we end up in a dictatorship, or heading there.
Clearly choosing practicality over ideals didnt work.

And yes it is good that you have subscribers
February 18, 2026 at 12:20 PM
I think a gifted sub is when a chatter gifts other chatters subscriptions. You get the money, but the chatters get the benefits of the subscription.

It would have taken me a lot longer to write the whole thing from scratch. I just made some minor changes.
Unless someone that knows what they're doing wants to do this job I have to use the tools I have.
February 18, 2026 at 11:24 AM
It doesn't, it just wrote me a template, which I adjusted.
February 18, 2026 at 11:14 AM
I do use it for political stuff like generating a candidate vetting doc or turning a meeting transcription into notes.

What, you're not afraid of trans healthcare wait times going from 30 years to never?
February 18, 2026 at 9:13 AM
If you want to stop reform, you should perhaps consider joining up with the conservatives rather than slagging them off?
February 18, 2026 at 9:11 AM
This is clearly correct but doesn't actually answer the question. How did we get into a position where fascists are able to successfully run for Congress? How have Democrats responded to this rightward shift amongst Republicans?
February 17, 2026 at 10:45 PM
I'm sure you're right. But that is, in other elections, not the case. Democrats have consistently failed to beat candidates that are absolutely horrible. Obviously corrupt assholes that should in a sane country be terrible candidates.
How do they still lose?

The standard economic theory has been that the poor have the vast majority of the wealth, and that all can be taxed through income.
This is, of course, no longer true. In the UK, for instance, the richest 10% own over 50% of the wealth.

I don't think he can be considered Dem leadership now. Yes, once he was certainly that and very charismatic. But that was decades ago.
February 17, 2026 at 10:21 PM
Personally I am very surprised that the people that constantly use violent rhetoric are sometimes violent
February 17, 2026 at 5:52 PM
Give me someone that could be considered Dem leadership and I'll show you a low approval rating.
February 17, 2026 at 5:49 PM
I think that is very true, but only because of the system we live under, one where politicians are always forced to bend the knee to the wealthy. We have to change that system to turn our politics into something worthy of us.
February 17, 2026 at 5:20 PM
I'm talking about the leadership.
February 17, 2026 at 5:10 PM
Newsome is a professional politician, though. He's actually very qualified. His problem is that he has no values.
February 17, 2026 at 5:09 PM
I'm a Republican, so you don't need to tell me.
