A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred.

Like @coloradotravis.bsky.social I consumed this over the weekend, and I highly encourage everyone to read it.

The coverage is treating the book as an expose of Meta culture and execs and while it is that, I think the more interesting parts are in between and focus on global power dynamics 1/

I could write up why there’s no constitutional problem with the President using an auto-pen to sign official documents—or I could just post the 30-page 2005 opinion by George W. Bush’s Office of Legal Counsel that explains why in lots of detail.

I choose the latter:

Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps.

Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems.

See how this works?

It follows the accidental firing of nuclear safety staff last Friday.

NEW: Judge Dale Ho has concluded the hearing in Mayor Eric Adams’ case.

The short of it: Emil Bove & Adams denied the existence of a quid pro quo.

An interesting argument from Bove: he claims Ho can’t stop the dismissal even if there WAS a quid pro quo.

Judge will issue his ruling soon.
