1. Sinners:

I mean...c'mon. I don't really have much to add to the discuss on this film, it's just an insane triumph in film-making and music. The kinda movie that comes maybe once a year that feels more like a Moment then a film.

2. Weapons:

I love a story told through different perspectives. I love the use of darkness and subtle audio cues to induce dread. I love using comedy to break up tension. I love Weapons.

3. The Life of Chuck:

Remember this? You should because it was one the most low-key, star-studded, emotional journeys of all time. And also secretly one of the best King adaptions. Hope and optimism wrapped together with the fear of our own mortality. Who else could do it then Mike Flanagan

4. Marty Supreme:

An Uncut Gems-like is a fun genre to watch. Seeing a sleazeball did themselves deeper and deeper into a Hell of their own making is just good cinema. Chalamet's best performance, and he's got a really solid chance at that Oscar for all the wild stuff he achieved with this.

5. Sentimental Value:

It's a very good movie with incredible, career-best performances yada yada. But! The joke of Skarsgard gifting a child a DVD copy of Gaspar Noe's Irreversible is so insanely funny and specific that I want it to sweep the awards circuit on that alone.

6. 28 Years Later:

My most hyped film of the year. It often feels like Hollywood has squeezed all the juice from the zombie genre, but Danny Boyle shows there are still many more fascinating ideas left to explore. Plus that zombie had a huge dong and that's just funny.

7. Mickey 17:

Another certified Bong-hit with an absolutely stacked cast. Feels like a pulp sci-fi novel in all the best ways. This would probably be higher in the list, but I have yet to rewatch it since release. Please forgive me.

8. The Long Walk:

We love and respect a Stephen King adaption that's basically just boys talking about what friendship means, and the importance of allowing yourself to feel vulnerable around others to truly let them into your heart.

9. Wake Up Dead Man:

I adore these movies. Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig create such perfect mysteries together. It's a joy to see all the pieces connect, with the full picture always being worth it.

10. One Battle After Another:

Although I'm not as hot on this as everyone else, it's hard to deny how expertly crafted it is.
