This’s actually literally a thing that happened in this case: see Type N (IEC 60906-1) plugs.

Originally intended to be a standard for the EU replacing all the existing national European plugs, it… didn’t.

Instead it just became yet another competing variant, today found only in Brazil / S Africa.

I mean, _some_ of us prefer podcast type media on YT because of the visuals. I have poor hearing & can’t listen to voices for long without straining and/or drifting off as it just becomes “noise.”

With YT I can boost the signal with lip reading/body language, just as in real life. Helps immensely.

Absolutely this. I’ve been both of these at different times in my life, and the (purchasing, etc.) tradeoffs I have made at those times have differed accordingly.

But as you suggest, rarely-to-never have I not had to worry about either of them. In the spirit of this whole thread, I think I’m… glad?
