The other buried lead is probably that the government wants to use AI for surveillance and suppression but I'm not knowledgeable enough on how much of this factors into the AI industry.

But executives alone aren't enough to pay the bills of AI, so they need the average Joes to consume it too. Which leads to them scrambling for any appeal to consumers beyond "Saving money"

Execs are clumsily trying to dance around the truth that the real purpose of AI is to cut costs, not make things easier for anyone.
It's the do it for free machine, but they know they can't say that out loud.
