I'm Remj, the anagram man.

Things I do for fun: 3D modeling & printing, stained glass, learning how to make things, making things, board games, home automation.

Some day everything will make sense - what a boring world that will be.
At an emergency vets office, trying to figure out our normally happy & healthy boy. A urinary blockage of some kind, 24 hours later...we don't know where this is going.

A picture from before he was settled in (he's a Himalayan, I promise).

Sunday morning market. There's also some decent pies and breads at other stalls, but really... It is the cinnamon rolls.

I 3d-modeled/printed some Christmas trees last year for coworkers to decorate for their desks. They asked for pumpkins.

I gave them sheets with a pumpkin in them, had them draw their jack-o'-lantern. And I converted them into something printable.

The video was the original.

My partner says I don't do enough selfies.

And clearly I don't practice, as Astrid takes over the frame.

Work picked up a laser cutter, and I have been learning freecad (to supplement my much better Blender skills) and the laser cutter software.

I dug out some old slate coasters from a previous me who did hobby laser cutting, and made a couple of coasters for coworkers.

Camping is a nice break from the computer/internet infested lifestyle that we live in, but it's great to return home.

Easy to dry out from rain. A bathroom is right there. Shower temps can be adjusted. There's a soft bed. You can refrigerate things without buying ice.

Now think of the homeless.

I attempted to wake up Astrid for outside time before work. She politely and sleepily pushed my hand away.

For a discussion on cultural news biases: do a Google search of "how did he die" and then compare it to "how did she die".

Hulk, Ozzy.

An AI overview, explaining what "how did she die" might mean. Anne Burrell from a month ago.

Is it an issue of Google search? What news publishers push as news?

The catio is well-received by the owners of the property. Allows for sun and shade, fresh air, and keeps the dog out of their reserved turf. But they might want more shelves.

We did a beginner, 2-hour fused glass at a place in Woodinville, called Molten Works. I will see the final part in a week or so.

A lot easier than stained glass.

We got out of bed this drizzly Saturday morning, walking the doggo down by the water. A couple of miles, Astrid was super happy to explore on her walk. I think my partner managed to save 20 snails off of some of the more inland sidewalks. (I need to start up SnailTrail Rangers, LLC again.)

I saw a picture of this years ago, and it still makes me want to do more art. (I did a 3D print of it for a pencil box for my desk. I figure personal use is okay.) The left side is the toxic brain, telling you that art and being an artist is futile.

Flipping the Script
When Jasmine Kay Uy was assigned to create a site-specific artwork for a UT class, the junior studio art major knew what she wanted to do. “As an artist, you hear criticism and stereotypes every day,”...

The technical debt I'm now paying down on: migrating Pi-hole and Home Assistant to Proxmox. (Soon down to just one raspberry pi in the house, running an octopi instance.) #proxmox

I lean on others for what to design or make. Their needs, sometimes desires - it's a motivation method.

Beyond that, there's a meta-website that should exist. Where people with ideas, give them away to people looking for ideas. (I have more than I can use in a lifetime.)

Mother's Day 2025 - she had mentioned 6 weeks ago that she was having trouble getting out to her flowers this year. (My more-skilled partner helped a lot with my blue flower.) #stainedglass

When your partner's interests need something that your hobbies can provide - tensioner for 1/2" electric tape horse fencing.

The model is my take, based on similar products out there. It's kind of cool - the top cap can flex, allowing the bottom to lock against diagonal teeth #3dprinting #blender

Some friends wanted random initiatives every round for D&D. The DM having the google sheet, more work. So I made a sheet-to-ESP32-to-LCD 1602 project. Lots of sheet trickery, combined with Apps Script.

It was also my first time pulling data from the internet with an ESP32 to display to LCD. Fun!

I don't always get 100%. I am horrible at making the bed.

My most recent make.

I think it went through 5 design iterations, and one mysterious "why is the circuit no longer working" step. 2 AA batteries, a 200mm long flexible LED, a button in back. The LEDs are about $1 on AliExpress. Next is figuring out a cheap way to use USB power.
