Due to my incorrect phos readings I stripped phos. In an emergency, that might be ok. In normal conditions, not so much…lost a turoki overnight

Well, after some additional testing and talking to Hanna after getting ICP results back…looks like I had a bad batch of reagent or the reagent went bad somehow. Crazy. My icp test came back perfect. Still no explanation for those weird diseases. Perhaps low flow?

ICP test came back. Phosphate levels are fine. So weird. My reader was even working normally on the standardized samples.

Sorry for lack of posts. Still fighting unmeasurably high P. Test is working fine. Calcium test is now purple (was brown before; supposed to be blue). Dosing 12ml lanthum chloride a day. Corals are all happy, the pissed yellow scroll is recovering. Crazy. I’m never switching foods again.

Got my phos down to 0.56 today (for now) after dosing 90ml of LaCl. The battle continues.

Phos still high. Crazy.

Well, think I figured out my coral illness problem…phos went from 0.3 to 2.8 in a week! I got it down to .24 with some lanthum (hopefully didn’t crash the tank) and I’ll get it down to 0.03 over the next few weeks with periodic lanthum dosing and 300g of GFO

I think it’s the new dried food? Must be

The white in the previous picture is dead coral.
There is some brown goo below it that is dying coral. This all happened in a few days.

I’ve trimmed the dead/dying heads and dipped the remainder.

I also lost my nepthea which was *finally* growing

Strange things are afoot…my phosphate has been running low, like undetectable for 3 weeks. I let it ride, fed a little more. One of my SPS frags RTN’d ok that happens. Then last week my Xenia started dying…weird. Now my phos 0.3 and I got brown jelly disease. Weird and not good.

It was a chunk of calcium/debris in the Venturi obstructing flow
June 5, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Hint: the skimmer chamber doesn’t fill with one pump, fills very slowly with the other
June 2, 2025 at 3:47 PM
Here’s a fun trouble shooting tip: your skimmer stops working.
You check the pump, you clean it, still nothing. You try a new pump. Still nothing. When your turn the exit valve, the Venturi gets quieter (if the tube is out) otherwise nothing. I’ll give a hint tomorrow, & I spent an hour fixing this.

Came home to some rapid necrosis on one coral….trimmed, dipped and fingers crossed!

No worms but I got some good shots of new growth …those little nubs will be branches and plates soon
May 23, 2025 at 3:15 PM
I’m going worm hunting tonight with my red flashlight. If there’s one, there’s more. I still have to find their nest hopefully I have time next week. Last time I guess I didn’t get them all….
May 22, 2025 at 7:14 PM
I caught this bad boy in the tanka week ago…leopard polyclad worm. Eats clams and snails. My clams look fine. I also just realized my snail clean up crew shipment was supposed to be timed so I could catch the rest…oh well guess I’ll do it when I get back.
May 22, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Oh man I’m sorry I’ve been away so long….work/travel was killin me. In the meantime what you missed: adding bergia nudibranchs to the sump to kill my aiptasia reservoir and a sea urchin lost a patch of spines…but in think it was damage and not sick, he’s acting fine now!
May 22, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Already getting branch nubs just a month in the tank!
April 23, 2025 at 9:13 PM
My SPS are starting to grow into each other..time to start trimming!
April 23, 2025 at 7:15 AM
Had a little frag fall last night…this is from 18hrs of contact with a mushroom! It’ll grow back…can’t wait for this one to take off
