This is an early Christian cross at Maughold, Island of Man, a so-called Celtic Cross (although that’s historically not accurate). I always wondered how to turn that into knitting 🧐🤓

Photo of an early Christian cross in stone, often erroneously called a Celtic Cross. Quick explanation: The Celts lived centuries before Christianisation. The cross is missing about a quarter of its right-hand side. The top consists of a circle within which there is a cross shape, the bottom of which extends down more than the circle’s height. The cross itself is made of a Celtic knotted pattern. At the side of the cross stem, however, are depicted figures from Viking mythology. These early Christians obviously preferred to hedge their bets. The cross is placed under a lean-to shelter with wooden pillars which is open to the elements at the left. In the background many more such crosses are visible, lined up in two rows on the right against the wall of the shelter.

Alpaca farm time again. It’s been a lovely visit in the blazing sunshine with all females (around 50 😳) all in one meadow in preparation for being shorn. The alpacas are incredibly fluffy and the crias are nearly adult size now. Sadly they didn’t feel inclined to pose.
