It’s 111° degrees here, and even indoors, it’s hot, but as I take a #minifig painting class for charity at a local tattoo shop, I’m wearing one of my fav shirts from Penzey’s Spices and some new #taco earrings I picked up this summer. It’s always a good day to #resist.

My students took time to write a quick note to a teacher of their choice for #TeacherAppreciation. A few of them wrote one to me. 🥹 This picture of me that includes my outfit from today for #BowTieTuesday including my Jordans is everything. #IDEAil #EduSky

I celebrated a successful IDEAcon with an addition to my #BookArt Alice #tattoo. Now figuring out what to add next.

Seems like a silly thing, but the #SneakerHead in me just loves picking out shoes for each day of #IDEAcon. Last year was Adidas; this year was Nike (because you can’t win, so win), 2 in #IDEAil colors and 1 to match my #BowTieTuesday gear on day 2. Can’t wait for next year! @dhasty01.bsky.social

The world is hard right now, and I’m sincerely looking forward to 3 days spent creating, innovating, and connecting with educators at #IDEAcon where my world will feel a little brighter and full of love and laughter. Can’t wait to see everyone in Schaumburg in 10 days!

First #BowTieTuesday of 2025, and I got to wear the handmade bow tie from Shemon Reaves. My students LOVED it and so do I! #EduSky

Made a friend while at AMLE conference in November. He’s an administrator who makes custom bow ties. He was wearing one of his own creations when I met him, and I told him I’ve done #BowTieTuesday for years. Today this came in the mail. Sometimes people remind you of the good. #EduSky

The first week of break saw me trying to recover from the exhaustion of being sick the week before. But tonight we get to host a murder mystery event for customers who hired us to write and facilitate the event. It’s been so much fun! #BoardGaming #BoardGamers #Gamers #EduSky

This week my 5th graders’ germs got me good, but the end of the week is here, and I officially made it to break. And store customers hired us to create a murder mystery dinner experience for them, so character cards have been created and roles passed out. Excited to host it next week!

I’ve been traveling for work this week. Heading home and stopped for the night in Lexington and had to share this sticker on the tea containers at Bourbon n’ Toulouse.

This was our Thanksgiving dinner. My 19yo and 16 yo decided a throwback to what we used to do on the first day of Thanksgiving break when they were much younger would be fun - but for the night's meal this time. iykyk

Hope everyone was able to protect their peace today! ❤️

After my brother’s post Election Day texts left me deciding to sever those relationships, I’ve been a little anxious for the holidays. But hosting some friends for Friendsgiving, a home brew D&D campaign, charcuterie, video games, board games, and a lot of laughter remind me what I’m grateful for.

My 5th graders wrote letters of appreciation to an adult. I received some. This had me cutting onions. “…I like how you help me calm down when I am frustrated and when I mess up you help me fix it…and I like people that listen to me when I am talking and they don’t interrupt me.” 🥹 #EduSky

Can’t wait to catch up on what I missed in #EduSkyChat tonight. Had to work on our board game gift guide for the holiday season. If you like #TabletopGames, you might find something in here to try - some have been around and some are new. Shop small and local when you can! bit.ly/2024CKGamesG...

I will never get tired of using LEGO builds with my students. Each group spun a wheel, and the character name it landed on meant they had to decide on a pivotal scene from our daily podcast to recreate with that character and then explain the significance of that event. #EduSky

Last weekend while out of town, I scouted out an indie bookstore and came home with essays on death across cultures, work from the incredible Dr. Bettina Love, an AAPI collection of poetry, performance, and spoken word, and poems written as if from Mothman. I ♥️ books. What are you reading? #EduSky

Couldn’t ask for a better way to ring in 2024 than with my chapter being included in the new #EduMatch book, Snapshots in Education. Available as a free PDF at buff.ly/2KVIdKg or in paperback/Kindle on Amazon: buff.ly/47nekZ7. #EduSnap23 #EduSky

It’s been awhile since my first #IDEAcon (or ICE as it was called at the time), but I loved seeing this experience of IDEAcon through fresh eyes. Read the blog and then come and learn with us in February!

Today is day 1 of #inktober2023, a great activity for the family or the classroom. Daily word prompts are provided, and you make an ink drawing inspired by the word. This year my kids’ high school art teacher is having them participate, so our family is all participating. Today’s word was dream.

I used to read a LOT of horror, but now not so much. Still love dark and twisty Gothic lit, though.

I’ll ask them when I go next! I was just there today, and it slipped my mind. Today this was the surprise on hold for me. 😆

I love that ideaU is an equitable approach to quality, beginning-of-the-year professional learning. All virtual, 3 half-days of live sessions (8/8-8/10), most recorded, plus a full lineup of on-demand sessions that are all available to registrants through 9/10. #EDUsky
