It was - eerily similar! I was very grateful for the advice I received on here to get more quotes. Saved a lot of money. Annoyingly, the review I left on Check A Trade, warning about that firm, was never published on the website. I don’t know why!

I had a v similar experience a couple of years ago, Annie. Quote from a reputable-sounding firm was over £1000 for doing a safety inspection (needed for house move) and installing a new, compliant box of tricks. Horrified, we got another quote, which was £400 less! (Guess who got the work!! 😀)

Thanks, it was taken from the Prince Bishops multi-storey! 😂 Isn’t it lovely how you never have to go far in Durham for a photo opportunity!

Thanks for asking - yes, more or less. Just a bit coughy first thing, but apart from that fine. I did test for Covid at the start of the illness and it was negative but… well, still wondering!

You’ll find it easier to swap over to heat pumps or solar panels and that stuff as you’ve already got a water cylinder! We had a standard boiler and hot & cold water storage tanks in our last home, but this one has one of those ‘instant hot water’ systems that doesn’t have a storage tank.
