In my 8th grade STEM class, I am trying to incorporate as many soft skills as possible. Many times, these students will be going to choice high schools that they test into and they need these skills in order to be successful in their work habits and in life! #sunchat

I am currently on a Motion and Forces topic with my STEM students and I have a few Ss who are "built different" (in awesome ways) and I have to even supplement with honors materials... I had a one on one tutor session on calculus logarithms which a student was grateful to understand. #sunchat

When I was long-term subbing over a decade ago I wasn't sure where I wanted to go... I remember being in a post conference with an admin who scared me and she told me I didn't belong here.. It broke my heart.. But she readjusted her statement and said I was meant for middle school 🤣🤣 #sunchat

I do often especially with "dry material" such as the rock cycle. Every year I adapt my lessons to be more engaging and a little bit more hands-on.. sometimes this works. Sometimes it does not, but my goal is for at least every student to make a connection. #sunchat

There are many times that grades do not seem to affect students or their families until it becomes a problem later on, for example, getting into my honors courses... Why should grades not be reflective of the whole student? Why are they sometimes put on the back burner? #sunchat

I just received a new student within my classes that have been moved due to issues and when I got to know the student for the first 10 minutes of class they told me not to expect much out of them as they are there just to pass through... What are we doing for students like this? #sunchat

I have been noticing this trend with many students now even post covid that are not bothered at all with grades... Are our grades effective means of showing competency? #sunchat

This is how I built my curriculum this year since it's my first year and I'm going to do a lot of failures and successes. I'm trying to build a program where students learn and I'm there to support that lea ring and give them a chance to express themselves! #sunchat

I definitely believe that work ethic is a foundational skill, built at home and applied in schools... I feel the disconnect from school is causing a lot of issues with many of my Ss success in this part of their student learning objectives. #sunchat

I have been given a teaching curriculum and also have curriculum that I have made myself throughout the years... I have broken them down into the units of study that are required for 6th grade and base each lesson off scaffolds of each other. They are short, concise, and to the point! #sunchat
