A 3D printed Gilgamesh from Tower of Druaga in my hand.

He's beautiful! 🤩 So much detail came through in your print!

The diorama and props here are all real physical objects that I built by hand then 3D scanned in order to compose the scene in 3D!

Your Pokemon keshi this week is a bird holding a leek. I know, it's hard to believe. You might even say it's a little Farfetch'd!

Today's 3D scanned keshi gomu figure is the half-dragon Draco Centauros from Puyo Puyo!

This figure comes from Kabaya's Puyo Puyo Ramune series of figures.

There's something seriously wrong with this Goomba!!

This rare figure is from the bizarre and unofficial "Mysterious Mario Bros." (怪奇マリオブラザーズ), a set of ghoulish parodies of Bandai & Amada's Super Mario Bros. keshi, made by Konno Sangyo.

We've been busy recently working on recovering a lost 1989 EA game - not for PC Engine, but for the #Amiga. Path of the Little Dragon is an early proto beat-’em-up done PC Engine style, and today we’re sharing several builds with you. Learn more here:

"Donkey Wrong" was right there.

Autodesk's Recap was my photogrammetry tool of choice until Autodesk's licensing policies became unreasonable. More recently, I used RealityCapture and was very pleased with the results.

That's what I used in scanning the set pieces for my Super Mario Land video. bsky.app/profile/mrta...

In addition to the 3D scanned figures themselves, almost all of the props and scenery in this video are real objects as well!

For this video a real diorama and other set pieces were built by hand and then scanned into the animated scenes.

Nice technique! The resulting gif looks quite good.
Shiny black plastic is very hard to scan with many scanners, but you might have some luck with some of the photogrammetry solutions out there these days which somehow can occasionally overcome this limitation.

I use a dental scanner which is designed to scan very small, uniformly-colored subjects--perfect for 3D scanning keshi figures!

The first couple dozen videos on my Keshi Corner youtube channel (like the one I've linked below) go over the process in more detail: www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7jr...

Check out this amazing remastered (at 4k!) version of "The Making of Myst" mini-doc! Originally included on the Myst CD-ROM in 1993, this version has been carefully recreated by Ted Sase using footage preserved by the VGHF!

Today's keshi scan packs a wallop! It's the Uchide no Kozuchi, a magical hammer from Japanese folklore that appeared as an item in Ganbare Goemon Karakuri Dōchū on Famicom.

This is from the Ganbare Goemon keshi released by Kabaya in 1986.

Today I'm releasing an early prototype of Nintendo's "Joy Mech Fight" (FC), from over a year before its release! This build, then named "Battle Battle League" (FDS), was created for the 1992 Nintendo-Dentsu Game Seminar. Links are below!

News: Nintendo's Kanda Building in Tokyo is currently being demolished. (A history thread). This building was a big part of Nintendo's legacy. Mother 2 (Earthbound), Pokemon Snap and more were made here. For anyone in Tokyo wishing to take photos, this is your last chance (please be respectful).
