Insourcing loads of cheap labour from some of the most racist, corrupt countries on the planet is not the answer.

To an extent on your first point, but they also made a big promise re tax which they are about to break and potentially go single digits in the polls by the end of the year. If not single digits, I think there is a high likelihood the Greens end up ahead of them consistently. It is a mess.

Change Trump to Labour and you can say pretty much the same thing about the UK. That is politics in the 2020s, promise thing you cannot delivery in opposition (only way to get elected?) and become hated in power.
Labour were not even that populist re policies in opposition.

Are his policies even close to being deliverable? Rent subsidies/freeze? Free public buses? City-owned grocery stores? $30/h min wage?
We will see the same here going forward with the Greens and Reform, none of this is good - right or left, all populist nonsense.

Far from plotting to get rid of Starmer, they might have to replace him by the end of the year if he continues as he is. What is he going to do about the budget? That is going to cause another fallout and could be fatal, I do not see how they raise enough without the big three.

Yet fiscalling it is probably the only option (well, one of the big three), which leaves them with quite the conundrum.

The OP said if the UK started to ferry people here 24/7 it would have no impact on the numbers. The point is they are coming here to "avoid tents" - at great cost to the UK taxpayer. Make it easier and lots more will come. Cap it and they'll just continue to come over the Channel. No easy answers.

You mentioned immigrant construction workers - 4.5 million people have moved here since 2021, how many more will be enough? Net migration over the last two decades is ~10m. how many more?

Yes, I am sure we would do the same in his situation - but that is a separate point from what the UK should be allowing. It also highlights how matey boy in the OPs point is nonsense, but he has blocked me - folds like a deck chair to simple questions, so much for his MA in Migration I guess.

Completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. Once granted, they can work, so the point is somewhat moot anyway.
Oh, and there was an interview the BBC did last year with one of these folk who literally admitted the reason he came here was because he did not want to live in a tent in Greece.

They formed a part of the huge influx in migration we have had over the last couple of decades, putting huge strain on the housing system.
