@nickofferman.bsky.social identifying issues in society and the way we educate. 'Stolen jobs' isn't the same as not being a able/willing to do the jobs available.
The loss of civic society is compounded by the loss of moral fortitude in hard work a vision and value rarely espoused in schools now.

A book that should be read by school leaders. Education is prone to hunches, preferred styles, ideology and fads. Actually being able to formulate and use an evidence informed approach as opposed to a social media informed one protects you and your school from the BS cloud that surrounds education

Sports related but really interesting book about leadership culture and managing egos. Also basketball. Not on board with all of it but undeniably some nuggets of excellence. Also short and cheap.

Spectacular Halloween comfort purchase. Of literally zero use in my daily life/profession. Still bloody brilliant.

This is a book that pushed me firmly out of my comfort zone. Nevertheless, a worthy read and deeply enjoyable.

Best part of being something of a nomad across the SE of England is stumbling across things like this.... Clearly the reverend wanted to make a statement

Re-reading this and knocking the cobwebs off some of my recall of Dweck. Just a thought to recent conversations about various structures for teacher development and the 'art' of teaching. Feel there's a link with the myth of talent and teaching but can't quite define it.

2.
Neither 'strictly' education but great ideas around leadership, culture and accountability.

Euripides writes this in 431 BC. It is still an absolute banger today and sadly pertinent. @nataliehaynes.bsky.social Thank you for your exceptional podcast.

I've learnt that I am 100% a sucker for pithy quotes.

I am dangerously close to becoming Michael Scott at this point in my life.

Million Dollar Murray - article by Malcolm Gladwell in the New Yorker. Power-law theory has some interesting connotations in how we manage situations and workforce in school. Interesting morning read.
