That might not be much consolation - that your colleagues are experiencing this too, but it means you are part of a community that knows what you are experiencing. When you can't go in one direction, try another route. It might mean going with limited funding, but it might encourage collaboration.

Yes, it is hitting hard right now, but you'll get through this, and past this stage. Your university, like others, is scared, "playing it safe", but they don't realize the impact on faculty morale, and faculty research productivity. You are not alone.

Excellent article. A democrat is someone who is an advocate for democracy. You are there. Not all democrats agree 100% on the policies you listed as what defines a democrat. There are alot of grey areas. What isn't a grey area, though, is the current threat to our democracy. Welcome to the club!

As a Biology major, I took an English course - Southern Women writers ( i.e. Eudora Welty, Carson McCullers). For a required project, I transcribed historical society letters written by a young woman about her home life in Cincinnati - circa 1800s. I loved it!

I teach an undergraduate disease ecology course each summer. This summer has been particularly challenging because of the political climate, and loss of information at CDC websites, etc. I miss the EcoHealth Alliance resources that I've used for years. I've shared this link with my class!

Oh no, can the university do that? Can your dean advocate for your work??

I am so sorry to hear this. This is important work. I have been hesitant to submit now because there is so much uncertainty at NSF. Melanie
