Finally got to see the Set Theory Clock in person today in Berlin. Took a 3D scan and measurements with my phone so I can make a model of it in the future.

I can’t believe I found this in a bookstore here in Wales. Note the punched hole in the cover, I assume this was meant to be a refunded book that was sold anyway.

Well my hanklerfish (cc: @hankgreen.bsky.social) arrived in one piece, so that was a nice part of the week.

That's when I figured out how to compile netatalk in Linux on my Penitum 95 box I got from my summer job, how to wire and terminate a crossover ethernet cable, and patch it into an airport basestation. We stuck it in the of the bus and plugged the whole thing into an inverter. It actually worked.

This was in 1999, Apple had _just_ announced the iBook and the Airport tech. The school had gotten a handful of iBooks and the teachers PowerBooks with wireless. I ended up setting up the network as a student. I didn't know shit about 568a termination or anything, but we made it work somehow.

Got a wave of nostalgia finding an original Airport Card when I was removing the hard drive from my partner's family computer before recycling it.

Glad I woke up early this morning to see Brennan's priceless face as his brain clocks what horror he signed up for as @hankgreen.bsky.social prepares for a Banana Loca: Hotdog Inception, Gushers Edition #P4A2025

Which means as a tool to get you an 90% success rate on your surveys, isn't a bad thing.

Plus we got a new "tag yourself" meme.

I'm face down cat.

Monday I get to become an Irish citizen. In the most quaint way possible, they make you printout and bring your own copy of the declaration of fidelity.

This is the state of Miss Nubbs accommodations today. We just put out the first box and other people chipped in. We don’t know who and none of this has been mentioned in the Facebook group. Just folks checking in on her, replacing the blankets, etc.

Someone kicked in the box at some point - maybe for laughs or maybe a utility truck hit it (it’s in front of our local power substation).

But a few days later a second house showed up and the original one fixed. Someone even added a real food bowl:

Last August when it started getting cold and wet, it put out a little box for her, and a little tin bowl of food:

Just wanted to share a random good vibes thing: here is (according to our community Facebook page) Miss Nubbs, a bobtailed tuxedo cat who I kept seeing sleeping on the ground off the side of the road near us.

It feels like in all their headcount churn over at WOTC, they've put DNDB's product management in the hands of someone with generic SaaS experience.
This screams of a "no, we're not going to give you the sprints needed to support two core versions of our platform, we didn't do that at Salesforce!"

Gotta say, I hadn’t ever thought of how I’d answer this question until now, and then I realized, yes this is also how I’d answer it.

More places could do with leadership inspired by Shackleton instead of Steve Jobs or Jack Welch.
