This is the Sierra batholith. Geologists reserve that term for the largest bodies of magmatic rock. A batholith, as defined in the science, has a surface of at least forty square miles and no known bottom. For the latter reason, it is also called an abyssolith. The one in California has a surface of about twenty-five thousand square miles. It lies inside the Sierra like a big zeppelin. Geologists in their field boots mapping outcrops may not have been able to find a bottom, but geophysicists can, or think they can, and they say it is six miles down. If so, the batholith weighs a quadrillion tons, and its volume is at least a hundred and fifty thousand cubic miles.

Went to @washingtonpost.com to find coverage of the HUD rogue video thing. Searching "HUD" brought up this top story: "AI video in HUD headquarters shows Trump kissing Musk toes." But clicking it redirected to the homepage.

The story has now been deleted.
WaPo search results for "hud" showing the top result as a story titled "AI video in HUD headquarters shows Trump kissing Musk toes." The image accompanying it is a shot of the video, reading "Long Live the Real King" The same search page but the top story is missing

Sometimes the Bay Area has stunning days in January, with constant sun and temps well into the 60s. They end at 5 pm but often stay warmer at night than summer (iykyk).

Banger January has been rare the last few record rainfall years, but we've seen a lot of it so far this year.
