We’ve been working on these issues for decades at great personal cost, and it’s clear we have periods of progress—and horrific periods of decline. We are in a very bad place in some respects, but I’m old enough to recall when this wouldn’t get discussed at this scale or at all.

Sadly, I think DJT could rape a child in the middle of 5th Avenue and not lose many supporters.

Thanks for this, Steven. My focus is also simply on the truth for the survivors. They deserve no less, and politicizing these issues doesn’t help them. They’ve already been objectified enough.

I recall getting my school vaccinations and being happy for them. When you see what Polio does to those you love, or measles encephalopathy, you’re glad someone found an effective preventative!!

True. There is, however, lots of good research on apologies issues by institutions who fail to act after disclosure. I got a public apology from a prosecutor for an undercharged/tanked case. It was healing.

I worked in the hill. I know how this works. If the House modifies what was sent, it goes back to the Senate. I’m not fooled.

SNAP benefits and paying people, stopping firings, etc is no small win. ACA fight isn’t over — Keep your eyes on the prize!! Focus on the negative messaging re: GOP!!

SNAP got funded for a year. Gov employees are getting reinstated with back pay, Military families pay. These are not small wins! ACA fight is NOT OVER!! Stop infighting and focus on the horrible messaging by the GOP!!

I know Tim fairly well. He’s a really thoughtful man. I believe he’s doing triage for VA. Getting SNAP funded, veterans, and work/pay guarantees for Feds is a big deal to his constituents. I heard his remarks — he feels there is at least a 50/50 chance re: ACA. I can’t fault him.
