Rewatched Napoloeon Dynamite. All time classic, still fantastic.

I sometimes think about attempting to date but then I remember I work 10.5 hour days, have two separate arts to practice (taiko and shinobue), meal prep for the week, maintaining my various collections and taking 7km walks.

I just don't have the time.

There would be no Xenogears if Takahashi wasn't a philosophy weirdo.

And I am convinced Xenoblade 3 is a Baudrillard-inspired work (need to do a replay with a few of ol' Jean's works open to see if I can get an essay out of that).

Engage broadly, it will make your art better.
This is what Hayao Miyazaki meant when he said all anime these days are made by Otaku (negative)

I've always been a firm believer or looking what inspired your inspirations. Instead of just being inspired by Dark Souls, look at what inspired that team and try to gain more knowledge & appreciation
The author of the novels that inspired Shin Megami Tensei and Persona says developers should take more inspiration from other media to invent new gameplay systems.

If they only take inspiration from games they'll just make the same games, he says.

An interesting thing is how many people, especially online, think there is a singular US culture.

A good example is marriage and having children. This is highly culturally dependent. Atheist nerds I know generally do neither, Christians of more mainline lifestyles do. This is of culture.

A conspiratorial side of me thinks all these Euros and annoying Canadians are ops to destroy international solidarity against fascism.

If real, they can deny all they want, but most of those places are going fash their next election and well, we'll all need to sink or swim together.

It is hard to say given the lack of writing, but I have a feeling I have worked on two sites now where some folks met rather horrid ends for violating the social contract.

A key point at both is it seems punishment was both public and carried out as a collective.

I studied anthropology and philosophy to try and understand humans and see if I had any place among them.

I found that I, personally, do not. An utterly alien existence unable to connect with anyone.

I will never understand living somewhere it snows. I barely understand humidity and temperatures below 35 degrees (celsius).

God I cannot wait for the blistering, burning summer.

Apologies to the hockey show but I can only engage with like, 3 popular things in a year or else the geass placed on my Irish ancestors will kill me and welp, we had Haha You Clowns, Smiling Friends and an Avatar movie in 2025 so I am full up.

Still trying to figure out why my closest associates seem to think I am asexual. When did I ever imply that?

Finally got to see Fire and Ash in IMAX 3D.

Fantastic, I enjoyed it even more than the first two. Great arc payoffs from Way of Water. Kiri owns, Blue Yuna is sick.

We come, we come, with horn and drum. To Isengard with doom we come.

The Peace Prize thing is extremely funny because I could see it as a Simpsons gag. Smithers and Burns to be precise.

I wish Baudrillard had lived to see the present moment. He would have a field day with content creation as policy.

Yeah, gonna go back to looking at sand and sand-in-fired ceramics.

The sands were mountains once. Reflect on that.

I abhor the term "neurodivergent". I am not "neurodivetgent", I am Autistic and it has led to a lowered quality of life.

Euphemisms and acting as if something that is ultimately a disability is a positive thing helps no one. It probably hampers accessibility if anything.

KJZZ may be the worst NPR affiliate and I hope they have to shut down.

Super cool reporting, just repeat what the Pinal County Sheriff says, just parrot power constantly in 2 paragraph "articles" riddled with misspellings. Absolutely amazing work.

When did online gaming culture fully normalize shireking like an ass at the game all hours of the night and continuing to play games you clearly hate?

Would be lying to say I never did it, but I would usually like, quit playing and went and did something I enjoyed.

It's funny when people act like MadoMagi is so bleak and messed up. As far as Dark Magical Girls go, it's the final arc of Sailor Moon.

Also, I feel it has to owe something to Shadow Star and Alien Nine. I have no proof of this, but it just feels so similar (and dialed back, those two are... Yeah)

The fact there is a Hedonism II and was a Hedonism III but no Hedonism is swingers' greatest sin.

And they have a lotta sins.

It is annoying I do not have the means to follow my academia dream, as I have found left-leaning academics to be the folks I fit in best with, or when online, the folks who post things that actually stimulate my thought to greater levels and have actual arguments beyond mere reaction and groupthink.

Replaying Dark Cloud, then Dark Chronicle.

What I love about those games is their stories. Dark Cloud is a fairytale, it feels like an old work, say the Mabinogian, where interconnected stories weave a narrative that somewhat lacks complex characters but says a great deal.

Lotta people ceding mental ground to the enemy these days.
