This was so fun to do again!!
Number 1 I painted May 11, 2024, number 2 I painted today. Number 1 took 4.5 hours, number 2 took 2 hours. I noticed is that I’m better just living with my happy little accidents. That’s a big shift 🙂. I miss Cinnamon, but I’m grateful to still be learning from her. 🥰

I’m just trying to take each moment step by step and not overwork the paper or the blending. Part of me just wants to stop right now and say ‘good enough’… But then I think of who I am and, and like the saying goes… I persist.

I’m so in shock. My favorite art teacher was #TheArtSherpa - Cinnamon Cooney died last night from a heart attack. I attended her retreat in person and learned from her tutorials. She wasn’t just an amazing artist, she brought joy and kindness to every tutorial, painting lesson and interaction.

Today is my 57th birthday :). I celebrated by getting up early and baking sourdough bread, sourdough cinnamon bread(that swirl is perfection!!!), and sourdough English muffins! So far, so good 🥰

Medium rare. Perfection. Seared and then shit down the grill and let it cook until 125. Now there’s a pork shoulder smoking for BBC a few hours that I’ll finish in the oven to go with Thanksgiving turkey (which I’ll brine on Wednesday).

I’m not loving this. I overdid the birch tree lean. It looks weird to me. Fixing it would mean starting over-nope. I like the sky & the background. It was harder than expected. I’ve been super nauseous the last 3 days, so this painting took forever. I think it’s time now to start holiday cards :).

Well… I don’t think I let my bread cook long enough in the new oven’s steam cycle. And I should’ve waited 20 minutes before cutting… but WHO DOES THAT? New recipe produced a small loaf and it’s a bit gummy. However, the homemade apple butter is a 10/10! Tomorrow is another day and another loaf!

When you wake up at 2:45 and realize at 3:45 there no more sleep in your future… I guess you finish an Ali Kay painting at 5:45 because it’s the quietest time in the house. Looks to be a long day of teaching ahead. 😑

Not recovered from last week. Feeling that somehow I ended up in the bad reality and the better part of my soul is hanging out in the good reality with Harris, Walz, and a slowly recovering planet. Painting to try to meditate and find peace before the storm, and what holiday spirit I can muster.
