the fun part is that i can write a stinger up to 2 or 3 months in advance and just stick it at the bottom of their doc and they don’t notice until it comes up in game, they ask for the script, and i point out they’ve been able to see it for months :)

the only thing to consider in the future is embedding more images—of PCs, tokens for NPCs, and city maps, not just continent maps, but that’s a much later problem

……..hey if this is just the player facing and my dm facing obsidian was over 65k words before i started editing and adding while making this player doc……………how many pages is the obsidian notebook

i haven’t finished the backlinking yet, still have to finish organizations (3rd longest) and characters (longest), but all the content is there

the idea of printing this out and just handing a probably 100-page stack of paper to someone as a “lore handout” amuses me

will I finish it before saturdays session? who the hell knows! certainly not me

the moment I figured out how to backlink to headers within google docs the dreams of a short handout were dead

and this is without a large majority of the NPC profiles I still need to write in, plus the campaign timeline

anyway said lore handout is now 76 pages and basically a player-safe wiki adapted from about 2/3 of the stuff in my obsidian notebook

(yes my absolute nerding out about my own homebrew setting is a product of my neurodivergence, no I will not be changing as a dm, and yes I should probably give my players another reference handout for the stupid amount of lore)

anyway I have an entire made-up fantasy calendar mapped on a spreadsheet that is colour coded with important events and now I have a fully functioning matching timeline in obsidian with too many backlinks :)

I can also say, with confidence that Arithe 28, 7914 was a really fucking bad day for the players’ rivals and that Navette 20, 7914 will also really suck!

like I can write: “your rivals father had a meeting with your mother in Nerid 7904 before your father was assassinated in Trenu of the same year, setting off a 10-year long conspiracy that’s resolved in Arithe 7914” and not one single person but me will fully understand this

That’s the point! You don’t even know what to be afraid of but simultaneously you can be afraid of everything!
