I am seriously considering canvasing for the Texas senate primary this year. It's time to take a stand, and I think maybe enough people are like-minded.

That is an indicator of atmospheric pressure. The denser the air, the more energy light loses as it travels through it, lowering its wavelength. Hence the old adage "red skies at morning, sailers take warning."

I've been skygazing since I've had eyes to see, and never have I seen a color like that. Incredible.

For sure, this is our sorry, giant mess. As someone who has ardently been opposed to Trump the whole time, it sucks to say it; but Americans dragged the world into this, and it'll have to be Americans who clean up after it.

@poetkatiratejeda.bsky.social un momento de asombro para ti, amiga.

Any moment on Earth is a miracle. Some days I just fail to remember it.

As a statistician, I must agree. Understanding good (and bad) methodologies for data collection and analysis is a matter of self-defense at this point. Otherwise, someone will lie to your face and you have no way of knowing whether or not you should believe them.

Imagine wanting to vote for Biden. I voted for him, but honestly what choice was there. I have not been able to vote for a candidate I wanted to vote for in 17 years.

Call them up, let them know that Raskin is onto something with ranked choice.

A kind word such as yours is a wish that grants itself. Thank you. 🫂

Trump, on the other hand, is both a loathsome, evil man and a catastrophically bad president.

I think the blueprint for navigating morality in the context of presidency was George Washington, who owned and profited from slaves. Moral relativism is thorny stuff, but personal morality and public policy are separable in my view. You can be a bad man and a decent president.

Honestly, the repeal of Glass-Steagall is the darkest stain on his run, imho. He was very competent, but neglected to make much needed reforms after 24 years of Republican administrations (broken only by Jimmy Carter, rest his soul.)

Exactly my point; no one can avoid making the wrong call 100% of the time. But we should elect someone who is not dedicated to making the wrong call 100% of the time.

Any person is capable of entering a morally grey area, only to later realize the reprehensibility of their actions. This risk is magnified when such a person holds a position of power. The important thing is to be actively trying to avoid such mistakes, rather than plowing headlong into them.

Obama was the best in my lifetime, he failed to punish reckless corporate greed for 2008, and his drone strikes are what enabled today's boat strikes. FDR has my vote for the best of all time, and he put Japanese Americans into concentration camps.

A righteous anger.

Teachers don't always know when they've made a difference. But every day, they make a difference. The same goes for all of us, as long as we're out here, trying our best.

I already found him and blocked him, but it's good that others are spreading the word.

If it went poorly enough, sure.
