A consequence of that, though, is that we often have to explain the difference between research information and research data. You can't really win :)

We do mention metadata specifically in the Declaration in various places as well.

What I tried to say is that we made the choice to mainly talk about 'research information' instead of 'metadata' because the latter is more jargon (e.g. when talking with researchers or university administrators). Hence also the name of the Declaration.
