Tariffs were McKinley’s worst decision after visiting the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo but at least they made more sense for the time.

These tariffs will directly affect consumer prices which only recently began to moderate after four years of high inflation. Canada and Mexico are our closest trading partners. Everyone loses in this scenario.
