Each zone had to be its own contained level with razor sharp attention to detail in how they separated one another. Going to the lowest zone and seeing the entire color change and the massiveness of the cave with all its drawn and textured depth with the fossils is still a treat to boot up today.

Elden ring felt like the only thing that got close and it somehow still shows its cracks on a second playthrough because of its lack of choice And interaction. And that’s not Elden Ring’s fault, but that first time exploration something you simply can’t replicate without mods at that point.
