From an ML view, workers lead the economy only when political and economic power are unified. A vanguard party is the organized expression of that power. If the state refuses economic coordination, isolated workplaces end up reproducing market pressures. That’s the contradiction I’m pointing out.

The idea of separating the state from economic power and having the classes ‘cooperate’ sounds closer to what historically was called class-collaborationism (similar to early Italian corporatism), where the state sits ‘above’ class conflict instead of resolving it. That’s not within Marxist theory.

Also, if you’re interested, Michael Parenti has great work explaining why ML revolutions have succeeded materially where other approaches haven’t. I’ve found his analysis helpful for looking beyond my own country’s narrative. Might be worth checking out if you want another lens on the history.

…separating the state completely from economic power tends to weaken workers’ ability to defend gains or prevent reactionary capture. So when I hear that model, it sounds outside usual anarcho-communist or Marxist frameworks. Not dismissing you, just sharing my perspective.

Thanks for sharing your view! I’m a Marxist, though I don’t interpret history only through a Marxist lens, it’s more that I understand present reality through it. From what I’ve learned in history classes and from people who lived through the Soviet period…
