Proud of my children that they are/were public servants. Sad that MAGA and DOGE are destroying their dreams. Hopeful this idea could someday bring more bright minds and open hearts to serve. www.justsecurity.org/124446/the-y...
The Year Every Young American Should Serve
We should create universal access to national service: a year-long opportunity for every young American. Our democracy demands it.

The only political accomplishment out of this for Dems is that when health insurance skyrockets for 22 million Americans in 42 days, it will be clear to even low information voters that Republicans are the ones responsible. Whether that makes all this worth it remains to be seen.

Hey… for all you Dems who think this is a “loss”.. get a grip - Americans are hungry! Seems to me the Dems realized that Americans can’t take this crap anymore - it’s not a game where “winning” is the only point. MAGA cruelty is hugely apparent, and Dems are not participating in cruelty.

The very definition of a failing democracy. The people vote.. and their choice is ignored by the party-in-power - which is all about protecting the Epstein names.

I requested the local USCG officer-in-charge speak at a local Veterans Day flag raising ceremony. Due to the shutdown… requires an Admiral’s permission. That is simply ridiculous. We will ask our troops to march in Vets Day parades across the USA while they are not receiving pay. IT IS NOT OK.

The U.S. military spends over $190BN per year on personnel costs (which includes benefits). That works out to $3.7BN per week.
$130M doesn’t even move the needle in terms of covering unpaid military salaries. It’s more a token deposit into the Trump Favor Bank than a help to those who serve.

$130M covers 4 days of military pay. 4% of one month. Cute flex, but troops need Congress, not a billionaire’s pocket change. Fix the shutdown @realdonaldtrump.govmirrors.com.

Honestly, this is getting a tad ridiculous and @markhertling.bsky.social is right: www.thebulwark.com/p/for-the-mi... For our family: my daughter was RIF’d, my son is furloughed, and my son-in-law is essential. The shutdown ripple effect is real and huge. When will other Americans get pissed off?
For the Military, a Shutdown Is About a Lot More Than Just Pay
It also affects many other people, institutions, and services necessary for readiness.

They’re using American tax dollars to fund infrastructure in Argentina because that’s where they’re all going to flee when we kick them out of office
After announcing a $20 billion bailout of Argentina, the White House now says it's pausing $18 billion in funding for NYC infrastructure projects
