It’s easier to impeach a “toady”. Once done, fewer want to be “toadies”. Diminishing the ability to lawbreak. And the power of the order giver.

Come to So Cal and talk to any crew member on any of the major motion picture studio lots. Grips, Electrics, contruction workers, costumers, etc… LA worker incomes depend on a vibrant industry here. So many ancillary businesses are affected by the amount of active projects occurring.

Spirobranchus giganteus. Always appreciated them.

This why I like Tom’s takes. They make me think. See a different perspective. And sometimes change my mind.

I had always liked Forrest Gump. But something seemed off. Never could put a finger on it. Now I see what he saw and realize he’s right. That movie was way too hard on Jenny.

Why is every opinion someone has got to be a hill to die on? I mean can’t someone feel they don’t like Tom’s opinion and just move on. Why do they have to battle him in it. “You’re wrong Tom!” Should be more like what “The Dude” said… “ Well, that’s just like your opinion, man….”

You’re right. Poor choice of words. 300%! They suck. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. They should never have capitulated.

True. But Congress can make subsidies retroactive. Not sure about if you fail to open enroll. Adding an enrolling extension or exception might be a heavier lift. But could be done.

You got it. That it was mostly rhetorical. I give it slightly more than 50/50.

Will there be another shutdown at the end of January because Congress won’t pass a bill extending health insurance subsidies?
December 14, 2025 at 1:39 AM
I see what you did there

Wait… if you thought it was going to be a $100,000 bill for the procedure to keep you alive and productive you might just say…
”Nah. I’m good…” the $2000 check I got from the govt to start a health care savings account will tide me over…?

Uh those of us who remember the 70s would beg to differ on inflation… and those of from the 70s who listened to our elders about what it was like in the 30s… felt lucky it was ONLY as bad as it was to have double digit inflation. They even faced deflation, which is worse.

Does anyone remember how difficult it was to get a healthcare bill passed last time..??!!. It was almost impossible. President’s party had a senate with 59 members, full control of the house, and the administration really wanted to get it done. And it still took over 10 months.

Oops. That’s what you get when leave the point of the post at the end and it’s too subtle for those who forget to read the whole thing…

Also how long it took… Watergate break in was June ‘72. Resignation was August ‘74.

But now you may like the days you grew up in as better. Seems pretty common. My grandparents were always talking about how much better everything was when they were young. (But probably because *they* were young).

You lost your last leverage. You are now irrelevant. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

If there’s no government in session, it’s an opportunity to argue for rule by fiat.
November 7, 2025 at 11:33 PM
What took so long…?

They have no idea. 11% inflation…. 14% interest rates… Unemployment at 6%. Been baffled how everyone has been so upset about the economy last couple years when it’s been way worse. Could get bad again with all these tariffs.

Part of the problem is that humans are very bad at comprehending the diff. between an individual behaving like fascist, and an ideology that controls a govt’s function (whether it be fascism or any other) in totality. Even if his goal is to control the govt. with that ideology. It just isn’t yet.

You’d think acting without a warrant and without any ID they’d be liable for for their actions under their personal identity and not that of an ice officer.
